A bookie has called for a ban on high stakes gambling machines after a punter hanged himself and another attempted suicide, reports the Sunday People.

Mike Simons was so shaken that he is convinced the Government needs to act on the controversial Fixed Odds Betting Terminals, called FOBTs for short.

The Sunday People is campaigning for a £2 maximum stake on the machines, which can swallow up to £100 of a ­punter’s cash in 20 seconds.
