City to campaign against betting shops – as 27th opens

Preston Council launched an attack on betting shops today – just as the city’s 27th opened up for business.

Local firm BetSid welcomed punters into its new store in Church Street from breakfast-time as councillors were announcing plans to join other authorities in a campaign to curb the spread of betting machines dubbed “the crack cocaine” of gambling.
