In light of the revelation that each of Ladbrokes’ fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) grosses over £1,000 per week, Derek Webb, co-founder of the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, discusses why these machines – dubbed the ‘crack cocaine of gambling’ – are so addictive and criticises The Association of British Bookmakers’ (ABB) player protection measures as inadequate.
