MP Tom wages war against fixed-odds machines

Rutherglen and Cambuslang MP Tom Greatrex is mounting a campaign against gambling machines.

The MP revealed he had taken an interest in the issue after a constituent came to him after losing £25,000 in a month on a machine in a bookmakers.

He told Parliament earlier this month that his visits to local betting shops in Cambuslang spurred him on to mount a campaign into the impacts of games dubbed the “crack cocaine” of gambling.

The Labour and Co-operative MP spoke in the House of Commons recently during a debate on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs).
